During the mid 90´s, when power pop was at its zenith, a band called Tommy 16 recorded two beautiful albums which received some really good reviews. Tommy 16 it self was in fact born under the original moniker Hardy Nilsson, a band that released three albums and had quite a few radio hits in their native country Sweden (Tommy 16 had of course also some success on the radio). But if Hardy Nilsson was a rather easy going radio catchy pop act Tommy 16 was more of a thoughtful reclining band with a pretty melancholy sound. Indeed both acts had one thing in common, the love of strong melodies.
The song I have chosen to describe what Tommy 16 was all about could easily be said as a parenthesis in the musical world but it still is ”This weeks top of the world track from A West Side Fabrication, in a historical perspective”.
Therefor I give you ”There Goes Another Day” (taken from Tommy 16’s first album ”Shauna”) the second track in our search of good forgotten songs that still can be worth listen to.
