Early the band was inspired and influenced by the music from artists like Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Brooks & Dunn, Dierks Bentley and many others.
In 2009, Ben Carbine & the 18 Wheelers achieved a significant milestone by winning the Swedish National Country Championships in the Pop/Rock Country category, competing against prominent bands like Paula Wright and the Bleeding Cowboys and the Stockholm based Ring of Fire with legendary steel guitarist Mats Rosén. This victory solidified their national presence and led to numerous high-profile festival performances. Among their career highlights are performances at the prestigious Furuvik Country Festival alongside country legends such as Gene Watson, Johnny Bush, and Red Jenkins, as well as at the Ydre Country Festival with artists like Dale Watson, Elisabeth Andreassen, Ove Stöylen, and Cookies and Beans.
Their recording career has also flourished, with studio sessions under renowned producer Kjell Nästén, known for his work with almost every band originating from Skellefteå that recorded and released music. Their most successful release to date is their cover of Mel McDaniel’s “Louisiana Saturday Night,” which has nearly 600,000 streams on Spotify. Additionally, the band contributed to the compilation “On the Road – Country Music Drivin’ Songs Vol. 1,” featuring alongside legends like Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash to mention a few. They have also had their original songs featured on Mr.Music Country compilation records and frequently been heard on radiostations.
