The cousins in WE AHR release a new strong single ”To keep me alive”, their first together with us.
Indie band WE AHR is back with their new single ”To Keep Me Alive” – an atmospheric, beautiful pop gem of a song where melancholy meets nurturing warmth. With gently distorted guitars, dreamy melodies and lyrics that balance between desperation and hope, ”To keep me alive” is the band’s most soulful song to date.
The song itself is about being grateful for the one who sees your mistakes and inner demons – but still stays. It’s a song about being seen for who you really are, both in light and darkness.
As mentioned, WE AHR is an indie duo consisting of cousins Jacob and Gabriel, who started making music together during the pandemic. The name is a nod to the Gotland parish of Ar (formerly spelled Ahr), where they spent their childhood summers and wrote their first song together.
Gabriel learned to play guitar from his godfather Pugh and has since played in several different hardcore bands. Jacob, on the other hand, has a background in choir singing but started writing his own indie folk in his teens. Despite their different musical backgrounds, they have been united in a common sound that ranges from acoustic instruments to synths and distorted electric guitars. WE AHR creates melancholic indie pop with clear melodies and personal lyrics.
